Where it began
Founder Ryan Phillips created SMARTFIRE with one simple rule in mind: KEEP IT SIMPLE.
During his role as a career Fire-Fighter with the NZ Fire Service, Ryan Phillips completed his Level-4 Certificate in Carpentry.
After his time with the NZ Fire Service Ryan took on a role as Building Review Officer with Hamilton City Council, here he developed his knowledge of the NZ Building Act and Code.
Ryan naturally progressed back to his passion of Fire Protection, working in Fire Safety design and is now sharing his enthusiasm and experience with you and your projects across New Zealand with SMARTFIRE.

In 2019, SMARTFIRE moved the Waikato office to Hamilton Central.
Also in 2019, SMARTFIRE achieved a Hawkes Bay satellite office, allowing expanded resources and coverage – ultimately providing a better experience for you, the client.
